Mikey Schaefer

Climber, photographer, Emmy Award-winning cinematographer for his work on the film Free Solo. Since age 13, Mikey has loved rocks and cameras. Beyond filming others, he has a litany of climbing achievements. Seven first ascents in Argentine Patagonia, including The Washington Route (VI 5.10, A1) on Fitz Roy. The first ascent of 10 Pounds of Tequila (V 5.12+) in Yosemite. An ascent of City Park, a notorious 5.13+ at Index Wall (his home crag growing up in Washington State). Plus ascents of more than 25 routes on Yosemite’s El Capitan. It is incredible how Mikey has combined his enormous climbing and filming skill.
